The Raven Review is changing hands. It seems the opportune time to do so. The Iwatsuki Park has had a major facelift—the entrance area had major construction work, giving it a new appearance; Duck Pond and the waterways of the front half of the park have been cleaned. The fountain is on all the time now, grass is growing over formerly bare areas, and unsightly areas are being kept cleaner than before; it’s a happier, brighter park. Animals, as human beings do, move. Children grow up, “fly the coop,” move away; so do animals. “If you stop changing, you’re dead,” Dad used to say. Iwatsuki Pond is, by this definition, very much alive. So then, is the furry friends’ newsletter: the ravens will not be putting it out any longer—you did a good job, fellas. Thank you for the enjoyable issues you put together.
Another Leonard steps up to the batter’s box, asking: can I take a swing?
But another Leonard asked if he could try writing for the Review, because he read the Raven Reviews and enjoyed them, thought it was a shame not to have anything at all any more. Except since he wasn’t a Raven but a Mallard, he wants to change the name to “Leonard’s Review” or “Park Review” or just “The Review”.
Leonard the Mallard flies everywhere, seeing everything, getting ideas from everyone he talks with and is always writing things down because so many ideas come to him. If only Leonard would remember where he scratched down his memos!
(Leonard’s first job will be an elementary one: to work with the carp Jesse Fin in putting together the first issue of “Goldie’s Last Hurrah”. Be looking forward to it!)
