I am an MK (missionary kid) and mother of two grown children. Altho' my husband is Japanese (from Koriyama), and we speak Japanese at home, my education (elementary-university) has been in English, so most of my reading and writing is in English too. Last year, we moved to Okinawa and now live in the house my Dad built. I was born in Okinawa--it's been a long time, but I've come home...at last. 2025 August posts are publications put out by wildlife of a Saitama park in 2019.

PARK REVIEW issue 03 Turtles of the Pond

The Review  Issue 3   -Put out by “the Leo Birds”/July – Leonard the Mallard

They don’t fly or quack or make a big ruckus, but you can’t help but notice them. The turtles of Iwatsuki Pond--they grow on you, and you realize they’ve got to be around or it feels like something’s wrong.

Duck Pond: Turtles Spec & Noddy Swimming w/Carp

Spec and Noddy saw the 27 Carp come up from Iwatsuki Pond up the creek that rainy day in May and have been swimming with them ever since.

Wait…what’s this guy doing? The turtles of Duck Pond sometimes bask in the funniest ways!

You put your right foot in, you put your right foot out…

What’re you guys DOING?!?

Me? I bask…in the rain…

They aren’t always like this. Recently, friends at Quasi Pond worked together when one was feeling under the shell. Anyway, lets hear it for our turtles!     –Love, Lenny
