I am an MK (missionary kid) and mother of two grown children. Altho' my husband is Japanese (from Koriyama), and we speak Japanese at home, my education (elementary-university) has been in English, so most of my reading and writing is in English too. Last year, we moved to Okinawa and now live in the house my Dad built. I was born in Okinawa--it's been a long time, but I've come home...at last. 2025 August posts are publications put out by wildlife of a Saitama park in 2019.

Happily Rebuked

Training to operate a wheelchair...
"He's WALKING!"

Normal people wouldn't get excited about those few words.  Unless you were talking about a baby who'd never walked before, was taking first steps.

But I had seen Daddy bedfast in the Tengan home; on July 12th at Nakagami Hospital's emergency room, we thought he would die.  For over two months of hospitalization, we had hoped he might be able to move himself around someday in a wheelchair.

Granted, One Day, we'll have no more need for wheelchairs, walkers, glasses, medicine...

...don't need it, Mother!
But it was in the Yokatsu Hospital's rehabilitation room my sister was delighted to see a sight we thought we might not ever see again during Dad's earthly lifetime.  He was standing up with the help of a walker, then he was walking!

"One, two, three; one two three..."  Go, Daddy!

And all I thought to hope for was one day seeing him able to move around in a wheelchair!  God can strengthen a former missionary in his 90's.  He can do it in such a great way that would rebuke a daughter in her 50's for her lack of faith in Him to do "exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think" (Ephe. 3:20)

Continue to rebuke me, God!
