My sister left on the ferry for Okinawa June 29. We didn't know it, but Dad had gotten steadily worse the few days before that, and my mother phoned the church to tell them they might not be able to make it that Sunday. Dad was determined to go and sang special music with my mother at worship service, although he could barely walk. (No, he is not a musician; just a Christian full of praise.) Joyce arrived July 1.
My Mom and sister had their hands full caring for my Dad by themselves; although at first, my plan had been to come down to Okinawa July 20 (Daddy's 92nd birthday!); God seemed to lead in many ways for me--and Kinya--to leave right away. We arrived July 10, and we didn't know this would be happening, but we needed to take Dad by ambulance to emergency early morning July 12; and he has been at the hospital since.
Much has happened, God has shown me so much--but more on that later--the veteran missionary had to be admitted to a nearby hospital for an emergency also; so although we have been in Okinawa 12 days now, we have not seen him once yet! I spoke to him by phone once, however, when he called to ask how Dad and Mom were doing. Ministers often visit members of their flock in the hospital, but this is the first time I've heard the minister himself was also a patient!

The church's ladies' group visited the hospital last week for Dad's 92nd birthday! I counted, and there have been at least 21 visitors since Dad's hospitalization, some coming several times after that too. What a way to celebrate a birthday!
more later. Thank you for your prayers--
